Key Proposed Inclusions in the Review of the National Code of Practice for Private Investigators in Australia.

There are a number of key items that need to be incorporated in the current review of Code of Practice for Private Investigators in Australia resultant from industry based representation since the original document was published on 16.12.2005. These are as follows:-
| 1. | All personnel in the private and public sector who conduct investigations, collect debts, repossess goods property and services, serve process must have the relevant qualification. |
| 2. | All personnel in the private and public sector who oversee investigations, collect debts, repossess goods property and services, serve process must have the relevant qualification. |
| 3. | All personnel in the private and public sector who oversee investigations, collect debts, repossess goods property and services, serve process must be a member of a related industry association. |
| 4. | An industry association must have as a minimum at
least fifty members to qualify as an industry association. |
| 5. | All personnel with the required industry qualifications as above must be issued with a practicing certificate by the AIPD on a yearly basis as formal recognition of their qualification and competency. |
| 6. |
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to be included as a Certification requirement, involving the accumulation of 10 points in value per annum based on the CPD credit guidelines. CPD content and points scheme to be established in this review and form part of the Code of Practice. |
| 7. | All industry associations will come under the umbrella of the AIPD who will have the authority to conduct investigations upon receipt of complaints from members or the public and will have the authority to take such disciplinary action as it deems necessary. Such disciplinary action to be conducted in accordance with the Code of Practice Complaint Assessment guidelines. |
| 8. | The AIPD will retain the authority to audit all industry bodies to confirm financial membership. |
